High Performance Computing (HPC) at Stanford
Our Stanford campus partners support several clusters to meet different research needs:
- Sherlock: The primary research computing cluster, supporting a wide range of disciplines. Pre-installed with Gemini, Ollama, and Llama for AI/ML research.
- Carina: Designed for projects that involve high-risk or sensitive data, providing a secure environment for compliance.
- Marlowe: A large, high-performance, GPU-based computational instrument, charged per GPU/CPU-hour.
- FarmShare: A teaching and training cluster for the Stanford community, widely used in classroom settings and introductory courses.
Storage options at Stanford
GSE researchers have access to enterprise clouds to provide flexible, scalable computing and storage for research. GSE IT supports researchers in setting up and managing their cloud resources. Cloud Solutions for GSE Research and Data Analysis has a brief overview of resources for faculty, students, and research staff in using Google Cloud for data-intensive projects.
- Rates from University IT for file storage
- Options from Stanford Research Computing Data Storage for storage attached to HPCs
- Cardinal Cloud enterprise options including databases, storage buckets in the cloud
- Stanford Digital Repository for long-term storage and sharing via Libraries
